Industrial Nursing Day 3

This is our third and last day here in AGUS 2 because tomorrow we'll be transferred at AGUS 1 which is located in Marawi City. Relieved because AGUS 1 is so near in MSU that we no longer have to hire a jeepney to go together to the workplace and we no  longer have to travel long but sad because we'll be leaving such a very good place in Saguiran.

I haven't shared this in Day 1 but when  I first arrived in AGUS 2 my heart was filled with joy and excitement because the place was very clean and the weather was cold. The fresh air, the green surroundings, the chirping of the birds, the feeling that you're one with nature is so refreshing. It reminded me of Baguio City when I first went there in high school.

This picture will always remind me to take good care of our watershed.

see the growing trees? though i'm not a forester, i bet they're still young. they're sooo nice.

ang itlog... hehe.. this what i don't like when i fix my hair in bum. my face is sOOO bilog. parang SIOPAO.. :)

oie oie.. drama man :).. wala lang talagang magawa...

SNs in motion. :)

Everyday we lead the Hataw Exercise. It's just good to know that the employees were also trying their best to follow the steps even though some were already having difficulty in bending their knees :)...

Industrial Nursing Day 2

Hataw Exercise with the NPC employees at Agus 2. Kinda exciting huh :)

Our industrial nursing exposure doesn't only comprises tour around the workplace. As future nurses, we should of course promote health awareness and prevent diseases. Since most of the employees were men and engineers who are using most of their physical energy in the workplace, the most common problems encountered are musculoskeletal problems. To prevent back pains, sprains and strains we introduced to them a Hataw Exercise in which they could keep their body fit and healthy through stretching and dancing with the music we remixed.

that was hannie leading the exercise. she's really good. :) and the employees were also very participative :)

sooper dami ng sweat... punas punas muna after exercise.. :)

around 30 minutes after the physical activity, we took their blood pressure to  assess if there were any significant changes

lovely ladies and gentlemen. :)

look at the trees at the back. so nice.

Industrial Nursing Day 1

Orientation at Agus 2, Pawak, Saguiaran Lanao Del Sur

I have never been to any plant so having an industrial nursing exposure was really fun for me. It's so exciting and amazing to tour around the hydroelectric plant which supplies electricity to almost half of Mindanao. The machines, turbines, generators and tunnels were very huge and very great. Though they were already functioning for so many decades they were still durable and reliable.

This orientation really amazed me. At last I've observed one area wherein the engineers were working. It's really not easy. They have to monitor the water level 24 hours per day to ensure that there is enough water to produce energy and there is no excess water that is difficult to control and that can cause damage to the machines.

I've also met their senior nurse. She told us that it took a very long process before she got her job but it was all worth. According to her, the compensation was really good and satisfying. Being an industrial nurse was also challenging according to her. You must be prepared to any emergencies and you have to ensure that the health of the employees are greatly monitored and are not compromised. She's the only nurse in charge to over a hundred employees so WoooOO, indeed Ma'am 'twas really challenging :) but you really made a very good job. The employees were very much aware of the risk in their working area and they are also collaborative to our health activities. :)

ashhhh... i really want to hop in there. :).. seems like the water is so cool..  :)

The picture behind me may look like just an ordinary pond or a hot spring at a closer look because the water 'bubbles" but accordingly if you drop yourself out there you'll simply kill yourself because that body of water is connected to the turbine that generates electricity. Can't imagine how powerful the current is tsk tsk.. That is why though I was so eager to get closer to it I always keep my presence of mind. I don't want  to end my life without even becoming an RN you know :) #

In the ICU

Duty exposure is really toxic especially if your patients have lots of medications to take and the doctors have lots of orders to be carried out. Despite those, ICU exposure for a student nurse like me is still worthwhile because for me ICU is the second most challenging area in the hospital (first is ER) where I can learn most of the skills in nursing care.

Last December there came a day when we never had a patient in the ICU and all we have to do is to clean the ward and prepare for the patients to come. To loosen up a bit we took some pics as remembrance. :) <3

christian and roger with the mechanical ventilator. accordingly this was an old version because the new one was placed to the operating room.

so <3 them :)

special thanks to Ma'am Morgia for the knowledge she shared. And also to the staff nurses who helped us a lot to gain better knowledge and skills. The experience was awesome :)

DEEP Party 2012: Captured Grins

When I'm with my co-DEEPS I don't only smile. I laugh and grin. Living with them under the same room for four years will really help you to adjust to each other's personality. Since most of us were already fourth year and graduating, maybe this will be our last party here in MSU but we're still planning to gather once every year even we're already working. I'll surely miss these people.

Year 2020: Year of Closure and New Beginnings
