I'm a big fat fan of pinoy big brother season four. I will not deny that really! This past few days that we don't have classes  all I wish is to watch pbb when I'm bored but it's so sad that on line live streaming is not available in our place.Anyways, I just want to share with you why I featured Slater today. It is because of the phrase he said:

"For what is a man who gains the world but loses himself on the process"- Jan Slater Young, PBB4

Indeed, he's right and I'm glad that he said this for if only people would reflect in their actions they would realize that with the ambitions they have, they have been trying to achieve something without knowing that they already deviate from the  life principles they uphold.

Why did Slater mentioned this?

The story behind is that he was tasked  by big brother to convince Joya and other housemates that he had love at first sight with Joya. Knowing that task, he already speak to Big Brother that he doubt if he could make it because he feels that it's not good. But Big Brother challenged him saying "hindi ka pa nga nag-uumpisa Slater sumusuko ka na". So Slater accepted the task which includes kindatan si Joya ng sampung beses (wink at Joya for ten times) at kumuha nang tatlong strand ng buhok mula dito, bigyan si Joya ng paper flowers (give Joya paper flowers/ oregame), and pretend that he is sick so Joya would take care of him since Joya is also a nurse. Slater accomplished them all very well that Joya even thought it was authentic. Slater was really good at it though it's against his will. When he smiles at Joya for me it's for real that if I do not know that it's only a secret task I would really believe that Slater was attracted to Joya. There's some spark in Slater's eyes and also to Joya's when Slater winks at her. It feels glad to see them together because I have faith that Joya is not only a smart but also a very descent, kind and good woman and also Slater however there's something wrong with them together.

Why did Kuya choose Joya?

Joya has a boyfriend and according to her, there's no history of courting. They only communicate through phone text and phone calls. In fact, Joya was the one who texted the guy first and later the feeling just grew. When Joya was asked of her dream guy she said that he wants someone na maputi, matangkad, matalino, gwapo syempre and her boyfriend is an opposite of what she dreamed of although hindi naman pandak ang boyfriend niya. Kuya wanted to test Joya of her faithfulness and maybe if she truly loves her boyfriend. Joya confessed that her boyfriend now is her first boyfriend, she loves her boyfriend entirely and she feels secure that her boyfriend loves her more that she loves him and  Joya even said that she wants to spend all her life with her boyfriend. KILIG!

Slater did not succeed...

Slater knew at the very start that Joya has a boyfriend because he asked her before he started doing his task. It maybe one of the reasons why Slater didn't want to do the task. He would probably be playing with Joya's feeling and then what if eventually Joya fell in love with him because of his character and gestures and then Joya realized that it was only a secret task what will happen to Joya then? Will she feel betrayed or played or will she open her mind and just accept the truth? It was really hard for Slater because the consequence was if he succeeds he will earn an immunity for nomination and if he fails he will be automatically nominated. He wants to remain in the PBB house but the battle is him versus himself.  

When Big Brother told Slater that his last secret task is to invite Joya for a romantic dinner and to finally convince her and other housemates that he had love at first sight with Joya, Slater finally decided that he won't do the task regardless of the consequence. This decision of Slater earned a lot of comments on facebook and majority voted that Slater had a wrong decision. Some people commented that it's a PBB House and he has given a task so he must do it. For me if you're in the PBB House you really must do your task but you're not only there to follow Kuya you're also there to let people know who you really are inside and out, to learn a lesson and to be able to do that you have to be true to yourself. For me Slater's decision was right because he used his conscience. He said, doing the tasks makes him feel he's so selfish. For me not necessarily because the task and consequences was given by Kuya himself. But if Slater would do it just because of the immunity it maybe selfish.

Joya's reaction...

When Joya realized that it was only a secret task, she smiled. She didn't feel offended and she was even grateful that Slater did it because for some instance she also learned something. She even said that " sana ipinagpatuloy niya iyong task" but  if she was invited into a romantic dinner she will probably refuse. Joya was able to prove that she really loves her boyfriend and that she's faithful to him.

Joya's secret task...

When Kuya mentioned to Joya the reason  behind Slater's acts, Kuya also gave Joya a secret task. The task is, she must remain close to Slater all day long and she must invite Slater into a romantic dinner date. Joya told Slater that she already know about the Slater's secret task when he asked Slater why he didn't pursue his task that's the time when Slater mentioned a lesson he learned form his father "for what is a man who gains the world but loses himself on the process". Hmmm, proud talaga ang ama mo sa iyo  ngayon Slater.Joya was able to accomplished the task and on their dinner date (hindi naman siya fine dining) they talk. 

Joya: sana ipinagpatuloy mo na lang yong task, pwedi naman akong umayaw di ba o dapat ko talagang i   accepT?

Slater: Dapat i accept.

Joya: I appreciate the gestures... You're a good man kaya...

Slater: Whoever is the man, he's very lucky to have you...

tsk. tsk.. Slater ikaw na! Naiimagine ko tuloy sa iyo iyong mga bida sa PHR.

I really appreciate Slater...

Though he came from a well off family he was not rude. He studied and learned and then he became a successful civil engineer that he is now. He is smart and he knows how to deal with people. He has been into a failed relationship and for sure he doesn't want to become one of the reasons why Joya and his boyfriend will also end up there. 

I really appreciate Joya...

She remain calm and discrete. She didn't immediately conclude that Slater really likes her. She is smart. She is rational. She's loving and faithful.To think that Slater pictures her dream guy she never lean on him. If Joya is an athlete she upholds  the spirit of sportsmanship. She became open minded. I like her. Dapat siyang tularan kasi kahit siguro may crush pa siya kay Slater mag be behave siya di tulad ng ibang girls!

what if?

i was inspired by the true story of joya and slater. i was impressed by their personality. joya has a boyfriend now and slater is fresh from a failed relationship but if they end up together someday because they are really meant to be i would be very happy for both of them. wag sanang mangyari sa kanila ang nangyari kay zanjoe at biance dati :)
